AV Club posted a great article on Highlander, that wonderful picture about a French actor playing a Scottish character, a Scottish actor playing a Spanish character, and the lesson that living forever means outliving your loved ones, but for some reason that doesn’t bug you when you get the mortal girl at the end of the film. Seriously, Act 1 has MacLeod losing his lovely wife to old age, and the film ends with him getting the girl in present day. They showed us how his relationships end. Is this meant to be happy?
